This is arguably the most complex Miyazaki film I have seen thus far. The animation and music score are beautiful and perfect as always. But as I venture further into the world of Studio Ghibli and more specifically Miyazaki’s films, I am continually surprised at how much these so called “kids movies” actually carry heavier symbolism and themes that, even as an adult, make me think hard and have to do deep dives in order to truly understand them.
