A precious work of remarkable subtlety. The associations between objects, gestures and memories achieves a Proustian depth of emotion that Cillian (brilliant as ever) conveys with a growing weightiness in his gaze and hunched shoulders. Watching it I was struck by the same feeling (the exhilaration of being in such assured directorial hands) that I had while watching Ramsay’s Ratcatcher and McQueen’s Hunger for the first time.
