Fantastic, better than I expected. This is without a doubt Mario Van Peeples’ most personal film showing the struggles his father Melvin went through to make his seminal classic Blaxploitation film Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song. It’s a true love letter to a rebel and influential filmmaker, and I just loved seeing the guerilla filmmaking being shown and just the determination that Melvin had. Mario did a great job playing his father, and since he himself appeared in the film as…

Liked it more this time around, but still don’t feel it was worthy of winning best picture, expectedly in a year when East of Eden, To Catch a Thief and Rebel Without a Cause (all which are superior films) weren’t even nominated. Thus is a very sweet film, which won a very deserving adapted screenplay Oscar for Paddy Chayefsky‘s incredible script. This was his first of 3 screenplay Oscar wins (the only person to win 3 solo ones) and it showed his incredible knack for engaging conversations that are rich with complex themes.

Papa Soderbergh COOKED with this one 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨. I absolutely loved this, easily one of the best films of his 35 film catalogue. It runs a very tight 90 minutes and I was captivated the whole time thanks to his slick and assured direction that allows the rising tension to have you on the edge of your seat. David Koepp brilliant script that is full of twist, turns and deception with the 3rd act being phenomenal and perfectly bringing everything we…

‘The Flash’ is one of the strongest comic book efforts in recent memory, especially regarding the DCEU. It’s a hilarious yet very emotional film that’s a perfect blend of the Snyderverse and Burton’s Batman films, paying homage to both enough that it should satisfy the divided DC fan base. Now I understand some are still iffy because of the whole Ezra Miller situation, but there’s many actors and a whole behind the scenes crew who busted their ass and should…
