  opening credits had me flipping out. ambient+J-jazz score is simple but incredibly effective. the whole thing oozes Murakami & doesn’t even need magical realism to do it

  insufficiently socialist realist to gratify Soviet or Cuban revolutionary aims of 1964. glorifies capitalism in the process of critiquing it. Soviet paternalism fails to capture the Caribbean spirit. racial politics dubious at best.
