Watership Down 1978
I think if this was just “animated movie where the animals die,” like I’ve heard it described to me, then this movie would not be remembered as it is. The story is less interested in being shocking than it is spiritual; less an animated HBO show and more an unfiltered religious text. There’s mythology and visions and spirits — archetypes and battles and sacrifices. It’s basically exodus for rabbits.

I adore the humor of the Scottpilgrimiverse. Stuff like the implication that eating a vegan meal once can give you superpowers until you eat an animal product again, and yet most people choose not to… that stuff kills me every time.
