Engaging and suspenseful the whole way through. Interrogates deep questions of faith and religion. For example, why do people pray when they know nothing will happen? I think of this against the backdrop of politicians offering “thoughts and prayers” in response to violent shootings as empty words. But I really enjoyed the protagonist’s response on the beauty of praying for other people as a way to step outside of your own self-interested self. And I think this highlights the best…
