Throughly wonderful all around. Non-judge mental of the teens, showing them trip through it but growing up along the way. Set in the 70’s but feels just as relevant asi talked and thought the same way in the early 2010’s. So much fun and random throughout. Remembered liking this, but didn’t expect to love it as much as I did.

A gritty, Florida-man remake of Road House. That is an actual sentence I can write. There are a couple of dumb laughs in the movie, as all "serious" movies now need some jokes. The CGI was kind of funny. The CGI fights are bad and the CGI in a couple of other spots is bad (that boat crash was brutal).
The only person who seems to be enjoying themselves here is McGregor, who is so unhinged and obviously playing it…
Basically perfect. The action sequences are of course beautiful chaos, not much to say about it that hasn’t been said. What amazed me is that there were a couple of truly beautiful shots outside of that. The one that really stood out is the early one where Leung’s character is sitting on his boat. Beautiful use of of blue in the scene. And of course the library sequence is breath taking as well.
The quibbles come in with the characters.…
Just wonderful. For the longest time, this was my favorite screwball and my favorite film. It's been overtaken by It Happened One Night, but it still is just perfect. Powell and Lombard have amazing chemistry despite being divorced only a few years prior. So many great one liners and the costumes are something else.
