Fiddler on the Roof is a joy to watch. Great songs and dynamic characters for one thing, but even in 1910s Eastern Europe, on the cusp of historical change, the musical explores pretty radical themes: racism, religious tension, and the fading mark of imperialism. The length (at 3 hours) was a little daunting, so it's important to take a pause when the intermission occurs. But a great musical for anyone to watch and for anyone who loves historical subtext.

Woo, nelly. The shot of every juror ignoring the racist lives on to today. What a film.

Surprisingly funny. The finger being used as a "cheese string" was the best part.
