    Adapting Lovecraft is always a challenge, but this is pretty effective.  Although it definitely goes more in the direction of body horror at times.

    While not a perfect film, this classic of Japanese horror is remarkably effective.  For me this one all comes down to the ending and the remarkable physical performance from the actress playing Sadako.  Just chilling.

    This film is horrifying, even with multiple viewings, in a way that burrows into you , staying in your mind for days.  The dialogical structure of Nymphomaniac is back (this time between the eponymous Jack and Verge), but with greater returns.  Dillon is chilling, and Ganz made a perfect foil.
