With the passing of William Friedkin I couldn’t help myself and wanted to see one of his films. So I decided to rewatch the French connection tonight.
What a wonderful time this film is.
The suspense is build up so well. It hits you in the face and keeps you focused all through the runtime. This shows Friedkin was an absolute master of his craft at this time.

Really short film with amazing visuals. The movie shows a get together of warriors preparing for war.
I saw an interview that the film maker got in trouble for owning a decommissioned antique world war 2 revolver that used to belong to his grandfather. He had to go to jail for 10 days because of this and this really didn’t sit well with him. Besides that Toyoda wasn’t pleased with the Olympics coming to Tokyo during a pandemic.

This is a top class piece of samurai cinema! A brutal tale of class inequality in feudal Japan. If you saw Harakiri or bloody spear at Mount Fuji and liked it as I do I highly recommend this film to you!
