Alien: Romulus 2024
Solid, very tense, very well executed first half that felt like it was confidently doing it's own thing. Slightly silly, schlocky second half that felt like it was treading very familiar, very over-trodden ground.
That said, the film has gorgeous production design, great performances (David Jonsson being a stand out), some really fun lighting and creative camera choices, and of course the practical effects were scene stealers. These movies are always fun.

While it certainly doesn't pack that Spielbergien punch, what James Mangold and team offer is still a really fun adventure, and feels like a fitting end to Indy's on screen legacy.
I appreciated that the film was more concerned with where Indy is now than where he has been, and aside from a few moments here and there wasn't entirely comprised of the shallow callbacks and nostalgia baiting that so many of these legacy sequel's tend to rely on. As…
