No Time to Die 2021
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This would probably be hailed as one of the best Bond films in the series if not for the ridiculous ending. The action, the set pieces, the characters - they all hail back to what fans love about the series in the first place. It may have the most “classic” formula of all the Craig films (a villain will a cool lair, awesome soundtrack, beautiful cinematography) - and a plot so outlandish it reminds me of You Only Live Twice…

The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover 1989
Some really rough animal cruelty in this. The main character is insufferable. The script is misogynistic and has no redeeming quality to it. Will never understand why films like this get so highly regarded. A half star for production design.

Halloween 1978
This is a perfect movie. Carpenter is truly a genius to be able to redefine an entire genre of movies and then move on to do completely different films, never truly making anything like this again.
I wish more slashers were like this movie. You care about these characters and the world created in this film. You’re invested in the plot and feel the fear Laurie begins to feel when she suddenly realizes she’s all alone.
Sometimes the simplest of plots make for the scariest viewing experiences. There will never be another like this.
