The Godfather 1972
The speech from Brando in the first scene is literally copied straight out of Shakespeare:
Merchant of Venice. Shylock. Act 1 Scene 3. Signor Antonio… “You do this to me, so why should I do this for you” “I can be your friend…” “I’ll do this for you out of the kindness of my heart.”
Maybe it’s clever referencing, maybe it’s copying, maybe it was unintentional. Who cares, it’s a good film.
