Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World 2003
The most historically accurate film I have ever seen. The dialects, costumes and social structures are all insanely accurate to to setting. It shows the love and care of the filmmakers. All the performances are incredible, particularly Crowe and Bettany.

Dune 1984 is so incredibly David Lynch it hurts. Everything about it screams mad creativity let loose on a galaxy sized canvas. From the Bene Gesserit gom jabbar to the Fremen still suits, Frank Herbert's desert has never again been so vividly realized. The level of visual world building present in this film borders on Tolkien levels of detail.
