  this movie felt so comforting and endearing, like a hug to my heart. the characters were knowable and the dialogue was familiar as if both are mirrored in my own life. i don’t have any of my shit figured out in my 20’s, but i know i can change my mind at any point, i pretend my twin bed feels like a home, i say “i love you” to my friends when i hang up the phone, and i look for them across the room. that makes me feel like i’m doing okay.

  this was so open-hearted and honest. such a vulnerable picture of self-discovery in the midst of navigating neglect and confusion and comfort and sexuality and anger and family and masculinity and genuineness and blackness and still feeling like the little boy you grew up as. and it’s all intersectional. all these contexts and environments working simultaneously to form a distinct personhood - distinct stories like this one that i’m so glad are told! the capacity for humans to change (yet in other ways stay the same) is one of the most beautiful things in the world!!!
