I read the book two years ago and it got me out of a huge reading slump so when i saw it on tv i thought watching it would only be fair. I loved it. The parallels between the characters, the match cuts, the soundtrack (i’m a big yeehaw enjoyer), the amazing performances… i really enjoyed this way more than i was expecting.

I’m honestly extremely disappointed - and i can’t help but feel like i was catfished- with what could’ve been a 15 min short film. A lot of it pissed me off especially the harmful sexuality trope but what really takes the cake is percy hynes white’s presence. also, I mainly watched it for aubrey plaza but she’s only in like half of it so… all in all i found it to be a meaningless whatever of a movie that wasn’t…

Obviously wanting to serve ‘shocking’ and ‘provocative’ when in reality you’re giving us nothing new or anything remotely ‘out there’ seems to be yorgos lanthimos’ brand, that and randomly placed, overly graphic sex scenes.
