The Outrun explores the toll that alcoholism takes on a person and everyone around them, and I felt that this film nailed it. At the core of it all, it treated alcoholism as a symptom, which it could be, and probably explains why The Outrun feels so resonant even though I don't have alcoholism. Whatever we're all dealing with, I think those who are patient and willing will find that The Outrun will speak to them.
But also I'm a simple simp, I'd watch Saoirse play Spongebob and still give it a standing ovation. So ymmv
