The only rational explanation for this movie’s acclaim is that modern filmgoers place a love for novelty over morality. In fact, they will bend over backwards to defend pedophilic and abusive overtones because it was, allegedly, a very creative directorial endeavor, and has a “brand new coat of paint” so to speak.
