Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me 2014
A gorgeous document of Glen Campbell’s slow, public fade into oblivion. His final tour as he contends with the ravages of Alzheimer’s. Fascinating to watch his musical genius hang on as the rest of his cognitive and emotional functioning dims. Joyous and urgent. Never maudlin or dreary. One of my favorite music docs ever. Highly recommend.

The Greatest Night in Pop 2024
Worth it for the Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie stuf. Worth it for the Dylan and Stevie Wonder stuff.

Inside Llewyn Davis 2013
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Oscar Isaac loosely playing Dave Van Ronk (the guy who *didn’t* become Bob Dylan). Fantastic telling of the last few hardcore true-believer NYC folk signers slogging through the post-beat/pre-Dylan deadzone of 1961. Rich, elevated telling of the endless mundane drama surrounding the lives of these musicians caught in a bizarre momentary cultural lull.
