  I decided to watch this after enjoying some of Koreeda's more recent films (Shoplifters and Like Father, Like Son). I went in expecting a film that was slow, wholesome and moving and got pretty much just that. It made me think a lot about my life, especially early childhood and I'm sure some scenes will stick with me for a long time. While it's less refined than some of his more recent films and I imagine it will take me a while to revisit due to its slower pace, I enjoyed seeing an earlier, more raw film from Koreeda.
