Almost got 2.5 but it’s a musical with 95% ass songs (The 5% is the son’s one song). Impressed I didn’t hate it though. Some nice directing in there and cool/dramatic use of lighting. Zoe really carried.

Changing my review a year later because damn this is the new Christmas classic. Such witty dialogue, real people, fantastic shots, and overall cozy feeling. It’s perfectly paced. I also love the feeling of the empty school campus because it doesn’t feel at all cold or lonely but there’s a peace and comfort to the empty space and quiet. I would live in this movie.

Great writing, great acting. Casey deserves all the praise for this role. All of it felt very human and raw in a very real non-dramatized or glamorized Hollywood way. A slow burning gut wrenching punch to the heart.
