Wicked 2024
Overhyped and overrated. The scenes at Shiz felt very disconnected and the musical numbers fell flat. For a musical broken into two films I felt I was often confused about what was happening and why. I get it’s a cult favorite but unless you’re part of the cult this entire film’s hype feels like it’s credited to the final musical number— which was the only good one.

the ending has left me with some disappointment— the first half was incredible— but overall it’s an undeniably amazing film and story with so many layers from the historical context, the immigrant experience, exploitation… the weight of the film is as heavy as the structure being built in it
