  never before have I felt so seen in a film as a Chinese immigrant whose family ran (and still runs!) a Chinese takeout restaurant during this time period

  everything from the how the restaurant is opened, the food prep, the brand of oil used, the calendar hanging up on the wall, the stapler, the hodge podge of things used as containers, the questionable food safety practices... to even scenes like Big Sister taking stock of supplies on a random messy…
