Really enjoyed this. Brilliant lead performances and the director helms an incredibly thought provoking and stomach churning ship. The second assault, for me, made the boy completely unredeemable. The first assault tackles the ‘grey’ area that everyone talks about and was really delicately done. You can almost see how people would justify the boys actions. I perhaps might have just left it at that. Really make us have to decide if the boy was bad or good. The second assault makes it unequivocally easy for us to hate him.

Really enjoyed this. Can’t believe it took me so long to see it. No notes.

JGL is a very good actor. No question. But WHY was this film made? That’s my overriding feeling having just seen it. It’s not a bad film. It feels like an extended short film and keeps the tension nicely. But WHY? What good is it doing? What is it saying? We’ve had terrorist films before. We don’t need another ‘Americans good, Brown people bad’ movie.

Really liked this. Though Cooper and Mulligan were wonderful. Direction beautiful. Orchestral music is the best. Struggled to hear some of the dialogue but the feel and vibe of the piece was always very clear. The arguments around Cooper’s prosthetic nose and Jewface is one I’m perhaps not best positioned to comment on. However I thought the makeup was technically done very well.
