  going into this movie, I expected a story about a struggling 15 year old dealing with depression and money troubles, but as I watched further, I watched a beautiful story unfold in the most extravagant way a story teller could possibly do.

  Right off the bat, the thing that captured my attention the most was the directing / camera movement choices. I think that was the thing I liked most about this film, as rouben mamoulian finds a way to use the camera to communicate with the audience and tell his story.

  The most prevalent camera movement I noticed was the switch from stability in the shots to a free-hand camera whenever the characters are in trouble, or danger is approaching. This…

  GREGG ARAKI YOU GENIUS OF A MAN I loved loved loved the way he used color throughout this film . For example, yellow (brians main color) , represents change and understanding, red (neils main color) , represents a yearn for love and pain.
