  I love the Psychedelic Furs, but this is a pretty terrible show. It's almost like watching a "shreds" video 😂

  I love Little Richard, but this documentary has no spark. Which is kind of ironic considering all the twinkling star imagery that recurs throughout. The use of that imagery is completely unimaginative anyway, and is one of several odd choices in the film (such as recreations/performances by modern artists). The editing and structure of the film are beyond sloppy.

  On a second watch, it's hard to deny the masterfulness of Todd Field's accomplishment here, which of course depends in large part on Cate Blanchett's incredible performance. This may actually be my favorite film of 2022.

  The assured way that Field so completely and quickly immerses the viewer in the hermetic world of modern classical music is nothing short of amazing. The film's structure is much more sophisticated than it may appear in a first viewing. Lydia Tar's relationship with…
