I liked the scenes when they eat together, intimacy through food depicted well. unique concept explored in a way that feels relatable and authentic. in a subtle way, makes tangible the personal turmoil of having to hides ones true identity for a lifetime. quite sad:/

there are some spoilers in this one - read with caution :^)
shoplifters is just so so good. the characters feel incredibly real and multi-dimensional, at times they are deeply caring but also in desperation so selfish. it’s quite incredible how every character’s inner world is so meaningfully explored yet they each maintain such a tangible air of mystery around each of them.
in the end, the young boy shota really steals the show. such a complicated relationship he has…

familiar yet horribly uncomfortable movie to watch. the lead is childish in the most manly of ways. his helplessness is so endearing that no one can resist reluctantly inviting him into their lives. mikey exploits this kindness whenever possible and leaves the audience pissed off by his enduring charisma through worsening displays of immaturity and narcissism.
