Gives the making of Fitzcarraldo a run for its money; Coppola should’ve recast with Klaus Kinski instead of Martin Sheen, Klaus wouldn’t have had a heart attack like ol Marty. Can’t wait for the Megalopolis BTS doc.

A very fun watch if you love kaiju and Godzilla. Sadly, it totally lacks in any sort of story, human emotion, or seriousness of the original Gojira bomb allegory. It definitely reads like an Anno anime, which is always exciting. The music during mobilization was the exact same drum and timpani beat as Evangelion which was a cool surprise.

I get the same vibe from those Netflix TV series for teenagers as I do this. You could almost make out a beautiful vision and story under the abysmal editing and shallow, nonsensical character development. Ham-fisted execution of what they’re trying to put across really detracted from the message. From the birthday party and onward, it derailed and lost any sort of momentum.

All of that aside, it’s a stacked cast who worked wonders with what lines they were given and the cinematography was great; beautiful and moderately poignant imagery, albeit sometimes too flamboyant. All-in-all, it was a fun watch.
