This one's all about Mifune, transformed and basically unrecognisable as the elderly patriarch traumatised by memories of the H-Bomb. Not quite as moving or successful as Kurosawa's other contemporary dramas but still fascinating.

Grand Theft Hamlet 2024
Genuinely almost had me in tears. Once you settle into the slightly clunky videogame visuals, it's a beautiful, funny, sometimes heartbreaking look at pandemic life and the devastating effect the era had (and is still having) on the arts sector. There's plenty of covid-related media out there in the ether by now but I'm not sure I've seen anything better than this.
