  Just beautiful, you can tell GDT poured so much work and love into this project, unlike the Zemeckis version. The stop-motion is gorgeous and I think helps elevate the emotional core of the film. Beyond it’s beauty this version of Pinocchio offers so much. How we deal with grief, the complicated relationships between fathers and sons, what it is to be alive and our shared humanity in the face of evil.

  This film has a lot of problems beyond its exploitative nature. I personally think Ana’s performance as Norma/Marilyn felt a little stiff and awkward. Whilst a lot of the shots do look fantastic, and the score is mesmerising, they are stitched together like a random montage of images.
