Eraserhead 1977
this was the first david lynch movie i ever saw i watched this for the first time when i was 14 and now i’m a freshman in college! isn’t that gross! but in between that time i became a huge david lynch fan and i like this movie so much more now. i like jack nance’s acting a lot, he reminds me of an actor from a silent comedy but has such a sad look on his face all the time. freaky and weird and good!

The Act of Killing 2012
there are definitely some meaningful critiques of this film in regards to the power dynamic of american filmmakers and their non-american subjects, but it's still an incredibly impactful piece of work. In the end, I do believe in the power of an ethnographic film, and it's amazing what this documentary did for public conversation surrounding the Indonesian mass killings of suspected communists in the late 60s.
