the shock factor at the beginning was crazy but as i kept watching there were too many holes. i think if there was more time spent on character development i would’ve been more connected to the drama of the ending. i also think margot’s whole badass rebel character was overdone and too disney-like for me. cooollll concept though and i enjoyed the humorous moments!
it just left me a bit unsatisfied…. still hungry, if you will.

if i could’ve only rated the first half it would’ve been a lot higher. i loved the commentary on womanhood and it oddly reminded me of Coraline with the ‘grass is always greener’ metaphor. it made me think a lot about the innate fear women have that beauty and worth are interchangeable and being looked at is the best thing that could happen for you as a woman. it was introduced flawlessly, but it didn’t go anywhere from there. i also think they got bored and made everything bloody. it just kinda went downhill from there.

i appreciate the concept of this movie more than the movie itself. while i totally understand why it won the awards that it did, i think the idea behind the film was prioritized over the development of the actual plot. basically i got a little bored 🙂 i also started to think of all of these crazy deeper meanings, but after i searched it up it basically said the main point was representing what life would be like without society’s constraints, which was underwhelming.
