This surprised me in ways I didn’t expect. So much sharp, ridiculous humour running through it, yet there’s this aching sadness that feels impossibly close the entire time. It’s rare to see a film navigate such extremes with this kind of ease. From the very beginning, it pulls you in with its energy and charm, carrying you through a chaotic, fish-out-of-water story that’s filled with some of the funniest moments in film this year, only to leave you completely unraveled by the end.
It’s a beautifully crafted, deeply felt piece of work. Mikey Madison is just phenomenal. This one lingers long after it’s over.
