  The performances are insane and the direction is very strong! The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because the third act climax got too didactic for me. I don’t get why Hamaguchi made this choice; it felt like the story got its message across pretty well without this sequence. Despite what I mentioned above, it’s a lovely slow-burn drama and a must watch!

  Every aspect of this movie is ridiculously good! From the script… to the acting… to the edit— The film’s just a massive shot of adrenaline! Give it a watch, it’s truly a classic.

  Also, fun facts:

  1.) Vince Gilligan (the showrunner for Breaking Bad) liked it so much that he gave WW the same hat as Popeye Doyle.

  2.) It’s one of David Fincher’s favorite films and had a massive influence on how he directed Se7en.
