Blue Velvet 1986
The rewatch left me feeling deeply moved and disturbed. The fragility of desire and longing, intertwined with the abuse surrounding power dynamics and the almost dystopian yet frighteningly realistic rape fantasies imposed on both the antagonist and the victim, struck me to my core.
Coupled with the recent passing of the director and my own personal experience surrounding the topic, it left me we with a feeling of deep understanding of the movie, and a deep feeling of loss.
