Incredibly stupid, which is exactly what I was expecting and hoping for. Kind of embarrassed for how much I was giggling.

And Hugh Jackman giving it 1,000% in these movies will never get old to me.

THAT moment broke everything this film had going for itself, and pretty much broke me. Whether it was studio notes or a decision by the filmmakers, just further proof the studio film industry is completely and utterly creatively bankrupt. The tank is empty folks.

Wonderfully weird in every way. Also wonderfully Wisconsin with hunting, gutting a dead deer, and big trucks catching air going like 80 down a country road. There's a samurai ghost (NOT very Wisconsin, but okay) killing characters we've never seen before, or met so briefly we don't really care. The samurai's kills are somehow causing(?) helping(?) forcing(?) one of the female characters to reach orgasm. Why not!

Props to Vinegar Syndrome restoring a good 80 to 90% of the film to a beautiful 4k transfer from the original film negatives.

Meh. Nothing new here whatsoever. Take Evil Dead out of the title and it's basically a direct to free streaming service rubber stamp horror film with a higher budget. The excessive gore was the lone plus for me.

I tried to have fun with it, but it just never happened. And yet another new film that is visually so drab, flat and dark, and just plain ugly. As the technology improves, the films keep getting uglier and uglier. Stop it.
