Three stars mainly because there's a scene where Tackleberry pulls a gun on a shark in this one.
May have seen this one before but then again I have seen a handful of movies where Brendan Gleeson gets to put on a show. i think the better Irish writers and performers can get away with this kind of script that scrutinizes and riffs on every line of dialogue because that is kind of what talking to Irish people is like and they have had centuries to perfect a charming version of that. unlike, say, a Joss Whedon.
anyway, this is a fun one. although my non-Irish wife would probably say “this is not my idea of fun.”
Repeatedly told my friend that this movie was age appropriate for her kids and she walked in to see a leprechaun getting absolutely hammered. started watching because i told one of the kids multiple leprechaun facts from this movie over dinner. asked that kid halfway through if she was enjoying the movie and she said “yes but i can’t understand anything anyone is saying.” ten star experience. my thanks as well to King Brian of Knocknasheega and his Leprechauns for their gracious cooperation
