The scene where they're watching Apocalypse Now and cheering as the US army murders Vietnamese civilians is genuinely one of the most sickening scenes I've seen in a movie and so much of that is because it based in reality.

Can't tell if I didn't really like it that much because I didn't actually really like it or if because when I was 13 the worst teacher I ever had showed us the first 40 minutes as an example of "the best film ever". I'm sorry but I feel like if you've seen even a few films or read a few books or have any kind of media literacy the "twists" that people talk about in regard to this movie are so utterly predictable. Some good performances but ultimately just feels too much like an imitation of the work of others.
Such a delightful film.
A genuine pleasure to watch in a movie theatre, hearing people still laugh at scenes people laughed at 90 years ago and feeling the genuine joy of others towards such a great classic. Support your local indie cinema.
