One of the most complex and thought-provoking films I've ever seen. Defied any expectations I had. Yet another film that demonstrates that rational and quality films about faith and religion do exist.

This film exemplifies exactly how I feel about Christianity. Granted, it goes about doing this in an unpleasant and depressing manner, but it's a manner I think is incredibly effective and even necessary. At the end of the day, Christianity is a relationship between a person and God.…

A film that feels like a part of me. How could I not give this 5 stars?

Many of it's deeply rooted ideas (religion, psychology/therapy, environmentalism) are big parts of who I am, but it's how these ideas tie together that really makes this for me. While there are many different ways this film can be interpreted, I like to think it mainly calls attention to the need for therapy.

Hitchcock's a main reason anyone who claims to not like old movies needs to just watch more old movies. One of the most suspenseful films I've seen, and it accomplishes this by doing so little. Some of my favorite use of perspective in film. It makes the mystery and characterization so much deeper. Wish the ending went the alternative direction of the did he/didn't he that this movie depicts, but otherwise, this was extremely enjoyable.

I personally like to think that JJ Abrams made this movie the way it is as a fuck you to Disney for what they did to him on Force Awakens. I have a hard time believing that a lifelong nerd/fan of the franchise like Abrams would create a story that contradicts and belittles the other films as much as this one does. Maybe this is just in my head, but maybe he wanted to sour the fanbase to Disney even more, if at all possible. Worked for me.

Next time I say I want to rewatch this, someone stop me.
