The Substance 2024
Very loud and didn’t pull its punches which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but felt a bit repetitive and lacking in story development. It’s not necessarily a film driven by dialogue and felt a bit like the same story could have been told in an extended music video format. This is ultimately what the film came across as to me and the ending is testament to this!

Civil War 2024
Felt a bit gutless. The film only works as a concept by asking the audience to relate it to the current politics in America and yet at the same time refuses to make any comment on it. It felt a bit too much style over substance and at times seemed to glorify violent uprisings in the overly styled scenes of violence. Very strange. Apart from the basic pointlessness of the film it’s quite entertaining and manages to do a good job of building eerie tension before ruining it with a rushed ending.
