If you want to get into screenwriting, The Grudge is worth a watch because it’s a masterclass in what not to do. It shits out exposition around every corner to skip past parts of the story and give 5 second character backgrounds, giving the film a hilarious, brain-rot pacing.

It proves proper build up, atmosphere and characters are needed to make a horror film scary, because none of that is on display here. All the film wants is to show off a creepy dead girl climbing out of a shit-filled bathtub; perhaps  a metaphor for how much of a shart this film is.

Really enjoyed the first half of this - classic Bong high concept, blunt political commentary madness with another great performance from Pattinson and a hilarious Mark Ruffalo who seems to be revelling in these crazy roles recently.

Felt like the film had bit off more than it could chew towards the end however. Too much was happening at one time that it felt like none of it could reach its full potential. I personally found the ethics of human printing…

A very technically inspiring film - I quickly forgot it was shot on an iPhone thanks to the direction and very human performances. I did find it overbearing at points though, especially the music, which often sounded like an MLG montage parody. A product of its time maybe.
Also stars Ziggy from ‘The Wire’, who goes from regularly getting his cock out at the local pub and robbing drug dealers, to pimping out trans prostitutes. Truly a man of Baltimore
