Why do all Chris Nolan films all feel like 3 hour montages?
He’s really trying to win a best director Oscar with this one.
First half was very interesting. Then it loses its sense of direction (I.e. got boring) in the second half. Cinematography was better executed than the story. It felt like the film was trying too hard and in the end didn’t manage to say an awful lot that other film/tv hasn’t done more fluently and economically (Triangle of Sadness, White Lotus). But nothing about this film is about economy. In an era where most films in the cinema are action franchises, it is refreshing to see something this bizzare but all in all it felt self-indulgent.
