After a subpar 4th film, this chapter brings back the storytelling qualities of the original as well as the more entertaining characters from the trilogy. The cast is funny and know how to act, which ties in nicely to a little more focus on the main trio having development and some emotional aftermath to the opening sequence.

That opening sequence is actually pretty intense and looks fantastic from both a practical and CGI aspect. The rest of the accidents remain…

The opening is crazy and awesome, as well as continuing the gruesomely creative sequences of peril that follow. However, something about this one just misses the mark on quality otherwise. The characters and performances are bland and uninteresting compared to prior installments, and the plot is practically copy/paste with little effort beyond the visuals and practical effects. Nothing more than entertaining and ridiculous for gross outs and humor, tackling some of the popular fears in public settings.

An incredible achievement in filmmaking. Uniquely original and wildly creative, the near-constant entertainment value is driven by Oscar worthy editing/sound, high quality costumes/makeup, a great soundtrack, hilarious scenes of combat, and deeply affecting emotion. Not only does it stay consistent with its concept to justify all the chaos and otherwise outlandish material, it sends a thought provoking and profoundly meaningful message on fighting for family dynamics and appreciating what you have even if it could be better. Much of what…
