Catfishing stories have been done much better several times by now. Even the Catfish show is more compelling.
What’s even more astounding to me is that many successful women like the subject of this film (Kirat) seemingly diminish themselves because they are not married or haven’t bore children.

Eye-opening and important documentary filmmaking that brings to light the latest fact-based uncoverings and Gov’t obscuration efforts related to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (AUPs, formerly UFOs). Strongly makes the point why knowledge of stuff is urgently important not just for the US, but humanity overall.

This ground-breaking movie rises above many other gay-themed films by providing an at times funny, and at times frank and harrowing, view of what many may consider an 'unconventional' family.
What starts out as a lighthearted comedy romp about a single, gay uncle caring for his abandoned 11 year old nephew, turns the corner into a gritty, poignant drama that drives home the point of what family really means.

This lovely film showed us how Jackie Shane unapologetically paved the way for many to follow, and did so with a mountain of soul. Just wish that more of us had gotten to know her when she shone brightest.
The use of rotoscope animation seems like the perfect choice for the tone of the film. Another great doc in the SXSW 2024 lineup.
