Nosferatu 2024
I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate. Nothing really happened. The practical fx were fun, especially at the beginning, but the character development was non existent. I was also prepared for a higher level of the grotesque but was actually disappointed. I wanted to love it as it was beautifully shot but just not sure what Eggers was trying to achieve in this version of the story…
Edit: it’s the next day and I have found this movie to be lingering in the back of my thoughts all day.

Shōgun 2024
I’ve come to realize that it’s more rare than often that a show or movie really sticks with me. Shogun is currently superglued to my soul.
It’s beautifully shot- many scenes took my breath away. It’s incredibly masterful in its story telling and authenticity. The relationship that builds between Blackthorne, Mariko and Toranaga … I fear I have become quite attached to all three of them because of the incredible work of the actors.

The Boy and the Heron 2023
Miyazaki films always make my heart ache in the best possible way. The Boy and the Heron, better known as How Do You Live, set my heart on fire and shattered it into a million shooting stars (both a consistent image brought even into this film). The vast world Miyazaki creates will definitely take multiple subsequent viewings in order to fully take it all in.
