Nosferatu is definitely Eggers’ most straight-up horror, and once you adjust to that, it’s enjoyable—but I missed the mystique of The Witch and The Lighthouse. The journey to the castle and the castle scenes were easily the best bits, proper spooky, and the costumes (especially the Transylvanian folk’s) were unreal. Nicholas Hoult does ‘absolutely shitting himself’ better than most, and there are some amazing moments from Lily Rose-Depp, but I kept wishing it was a bit weirder, a bit more elusive. Enjoyed it, just didn’t love it
Knuckle is honestly one of the most gripping documentaries I’ve seen. The level of trust and access built over 12 years is impressive—there’s no way you get footage like this without being fully embedded in that world. What makes it so good is that it never feels exploitative or over-dramatised, it just lets the whole thing play out, showing the cyclical nature of violence, pride, and tradition
Really didn’t like this film. The humour was unbearably ‘random ?! 🤪’ and all the jokes n scenes were seemingly made to be memed n posted online. Shite film, do not recommend.
I really enjoyed this PTA film. It’s an interesting exploration of control, submission, and the search for purpose. I love that it doesn’t spoon-feed you, you just get to dive into the complex dynamic between Hoffman and Phoenix. The performances are outstanding. The only possible downside is the repetitive reexamination of the same themes in some scenes, but it is deffo intentional, reflecting the repetition in the processing scenes and the overall philosophy of “The Cause.” Would recommend
