  this is an OBJECTIVELY bad movie. it’s terrible in a way that you can’t peek your eyes away but you know, deep down, that you’ve just wasted two hours and eighteen minutes of your life.

  as someone who grew up catholic, the movie feels like a cold embrace: a show of intimacy with a doctrine that matters to me and yet a critique of its leaders and, by extension, leaders of the entire christian church. it captures, in pristine shots btw, something that we often fail to remember: even men of God are first men—humans full of love, hope, uncertainty, and sometimes, even hate—before they are anything else.
