Update: After further contemplation, and the reflection to what I saw on the screen, I must realize that this is a film where the viewer is never meant to see Lenny and Felicia in a positive light. They are constantly plunged into darkness, and are never placed in a clean frame together. Because there is no identification with either character, the viewer is given full clearance to judge who they are, and what their relationship represents. It may be a very uncomfortable message, but there is an absolute coherent theme that resonates throughout the entirety of the piece.
