The Town 2010
This thing is littered with more grade A lines than a Charlestown safe house apartment in a Boston movie. Just a true delight. Apparently the original was almost 4 hours long and Affleck had to really pick and choose what stayed and went, and it shows; there’s not an ounce of fat on this, every moment matters and the payoff at the end is incredibly satisfying. Unendingly rewatchable and enjoyable. Almost not worth over-analyzing, sometimes a movie just rocks and makes you happy. “There goes college soccah!”

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
The background imagery, score and acting performances from Skarsgard, Ineson, Defoe and Hoult are really, really good. 5 star stuff. I loved the exposition and time spent in Nosferatu’s castle… Skarsgard’s insane accent performance even sort of grew on me.

I thought this was a really well crafted movie. The point that I think negative-reviewers…

Ratatouille 2007
Really torn between 4 and 4.5 stars - so many of my favorite animated films (Shrek, Nightmare Before Christmas, Lilo & Stitch, etc) have been comfortably rated as 4 stars - but not only does this one rank higher in average letterboxed score than all of those, but it really does feel like it deserves to be one class higher. It’s so great. The animation is wonderful, the plot is a home run and tries to be as realistic as it…
