We just don’t know how to make movies about hope anymore. Not like this, at least. Watching a film that follows someone to the deepest lows of their life, yet they still cling to hope evokes an emotion like nothing else will inspire anybody.
The beginning of the movie feels like years ago to me, which leads me to say that it was maybe even entirely unnecessary to the movie. At least in the sense that it isn’t needed to show the theme, and could just be referenced in dialogue.
I’m breaking free (soaring, flying) four outta five stars.
